URUMQI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - August 25, 2026) The “A Date with China - Meet Xinjiang” international media team arrived in Urumqi on Tuesday, with the Urumqi Cultural Center Planning Museum serving as their first stop.
The delegation explored the city’s urban development achievements and gained insights into the planning vision behind its transformation into a modern international hub. The museum, located in the city’s exhibition area, acts as a symbolic "living room" showcasing Urumqi’s history, present development, and future aspirations through architectural models, digital imaging, interactive displays, and other multimedia formats.
During their visit, team members examined large-scale urban models, experienced immersive digital exhibitions, and listened to detailed explanations about the city’s planning and development. The exhibits provided a comprehensive understanding of Urumqi’s growth as a key Silk Road hub.
As a significant city along the ancient Silk Road, Urumqi has embraced new opportunities brought by the Silk Road Economic Belt. The city continues to enhance urban functions, balance historical preservation with modernization, improve its overall development capacity, and strengthen its image as an open and inclusive gateway connecting China with the world.
The Xinjiang leg of the "A Date with China - Meet Xinjiang" interview campaign will continue visiting distinctive locations across the region. Through the perspectives of international media representatives and foreign bloggers, the program aims to present a more comprehensive and authentic story of Xinjiang to global audiences.
