Islamabad Police Seeks Rs170 Million For Containers And Other Expenses

Six hundred containers are currently in the city, with a target of 1,000, while piles of soil will also be placed inside and outside them, according to a private TV report.

Preparations for Upcoming Marches

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Sep, 2026) The police and administration in the Federal capital are gearing up for Jamaat-e-Islami’s long march on 20th September and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) long march on 27th September.

  • Container Arrangements: Currently, 600 containers are present in Islamabad, with a goal of 1,000. These containers have been delivered around the city's entry and exit points.
  • Security Measures: Entry to the Red Zone from D-Chowk has been sealed. Soil piles will be placed inside and outside the containers.
  • Deployment: Over 3,000 police personnel will be on duty, supported by Rangers and the Anti-Riot Force.
  • Additional Help: Personnel from other cities will be called in after 20th September.
  • Container Rent: The daily rent for 40-foot containers is Rs20,000.
  • Budget: Security measures taken for the PTI march in November 2025 cost Rs170 million, and the same budget has been allocated for this year's events.
