President Donald Trump Calls Scott Jamieson After His 14-Year Wait for Second Title
BBC Sport Scotland reports that President Donald Trump reached out to Scott Jamieson after the Scot secured his first DP World Tour win in 14 years at the Nexo Championship in Aberdeenshire.
Jamieson, 42, ended his drought with a final round 67, beating England's Matthew Jordan by a couple of strokes. This marked his second DP World Tour triumph, with his last success coming in 2012.
In a surprising turn of events, Trump contacted Jamieson via video call, a tradition at Trump International Golf Links following tournament victories.
"He was very complimentary," Jamieson shared, "and it sounds like he was actually watching it. He said he was following along, so it was really cool... I mean, he is the President of the United States."
Jamieson's victory not only secured his card for next season but also offered hope for future success, as he stated, "There have been times where I've thought 'I might be losing my job here'... Thankfully I don't need to worry about that for over the next few weeks."
Defending champion Grant Forrest struggled on Sunday, posting a 80 that left him at 10 over par. However, Scots Euan Walker and Connor Syme finished tied for 10th on four under.
