Earning his first DP World Tour victory in 14 years was enough to rattle most golfers. Yet, as Scott Jamieson reflected on breaking his drought at the Nexo Championship in Aberdeenshire, he found himself on a video call with none other than President Donald Trump.

It has become tradition for the US President to contact the winner at Trump International Golf Links immediately after their triumph. Grant Forrest was the recipient of this call last year, and this time it was Jamieson, who received the unexpected phone from 42-year-old Scot.

"He was very complimentary and it sounds like he was actually watching it," Jamieson shared with BBC Sport Scotland. "He said he was following along, so it was really cool... I mean, he is the President of the United States."

Jamieson's final round 67 secured his victory by a couple of strokes over England's Matthew Jordan, despite an intense few holes.

This triumph marked Jamieson's second DP World Tour win, with his last in 2012 at the Nelson Mandela Championship. With his playing rights secure for next season, Jamieson expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue his professional career.

"I didn't realise it had been 14 years," he admitted. "I practice every day and explore different ways to get better, so sometimes it feels like banging your head against a wall... The odd win here and there makes it all worthwhile."
