Kohat Road Expansion Plan Reviewed To Ease Traffic Congestion
Kohat, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 8th Sep, 2026) A high-level meeting here on Tuesday reviewed plans to widen King Gate Road and examined several civic issues, including blocked national identity cards and passports, irrigation and drainage problems.
The meeting, held at the Commissioner House, was attended by former interior minister and National Assembly member Shehryar Afridi, Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Moatasim Billah Shah, Hafiz Inam, focal person to the Information and IT Minister, and senior officials from the cantonment board, Pakistan Air Force, WSSC, NADRA, Passport Office and other departments.
Officials told the meeting that work on the proposed road project from PAF Chowk through King Gate to Kacheri Chowk would commence after completion of the required no-objection certificates and other formalities. Afridi directed the authorities to remove administrative hurdles and complete the necessary procedures at the earliest, saying the road expansion would help reduce traffic congestion and improve mobility for residents.
The meeting also reviewed complaints about blocked identity cards and passports. The authorities concerned were directed to resolve the issues promptly and prevent unnecessary delays for citizens. Irrigation officials briefed the meeting on the cleaning of canals and waterways in Kohat and adjoining areas, removal of encroachments, irrigation schemes and ongoing and proposed development projects.
The meeting directed all relevant departments to accelerate development work and improve coordination to address public grievances effectively. Afridi said the government would focus on delivering tangible relief to the people of Kohat through practical development initiatives rather than limiting efforts to announcements.
