PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 7th Sep, 2026) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government distributed 478,057 bags of flour at subsidised rates across the province last week through 1,653 active dealers, the food Department said on Monday.

The department revealed that Peshawar Division led in distribution with 142,326 bags, followed by Malakand with 87,030, Hazara with 83,846, Dera Ismail Khan with 80,539, Mardan with 61,047, Kohat with 18,629 and Bannu with 4,640 bags.

It stated that flour mills were receiving 3,000 metric tonnes of government wheat daily from the province’s strategic reserve to maintain the supply of flour at controlled prices.

The government is selling a 20-kilogramme bag of flour for Rs2,520 through designated dealers. Food Department and KP Food Authority teams are also inspecting the quality of wheat and flour and taking action against mills violating prescribed standards.

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Food Dr Muhammad Israr Khan directed citizens to report cases of substandard flour. He assured that authorities would cancel the government quota of mills found supplying poor-quality flour and initiate legal proceedings against them.

Dr Israr emphasised that the provincial government remained committed to ensuring the availability of quality flour at affordable prices.
