KP, Federal Govt To Sign Framework Agreement For Railways Project
PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Aug, 2026) The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Ministry of Railways are set to sign a framework agreement here on Tuesday at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad, to advance railway projects in the province.
Under the agreement, the provincial government will establish modern high-speed train facilities aimed at revolutionizing travel across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The initiative is expected to reduce traffic and travel burdens on major cities while promoting trade, tourism, employment, and travel connectivity in the region.
Official sources said the framework outlines a phased implementation of various railway projects across the province. The Peshawar Valley Railway Project will also be progressed under the agreement, with its first phase comprising the Peshawar-Nowshera-Jehangira railway corridor.
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federal Minister for Railways will sign the agreement during a ceremony at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad.
The provincial Transport Department has confirmed the signing ceremony will take place as scheduled.
