KP Govt Prioritizing Skills Development, Self-reliance In Welfare Programmes: Adviser
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Adviser on Social Welfare, Zakat, and Women Empowerment, Liaqat Ali Khan, has stated that the provincial government is transforming its welfare strategy by focusing on skills development and self-reliance instead of solely relying on short-term financial aid.
During an open court (Khuli Katchery) in Kohat on Friday, Khan emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that welfare initiatives reach all eligible and vulnerable individuals without discrimination. He announced that special persons will receive vocational training and other opportunities to earn a decent living and become self-sufficient. Additionally, district-level centers for individuals with disabilities will be established to offer skills training, rehabilitation, and access to welfare services.
Liaqat Ali Khan directed the relevant departments to promptly address genuine public complaints and ensure transparent delivery of welfare benefits to the deserving populace.
Present at the open court were Commissioner Kohat Division, Syed Moatasim Billah Shah, Additional Secretary Social Welfare, and Deputy Commissioner Kohat, Muhammad Nawaz Wazir. Citizens raised issues concerning welfare assistance and public services during the event.
The adviser also distributed sewing machines and wheelchairs to deserving beneficiaries, noting that such aid would empower vulnerable people to improve their livelihoods and move towards greater economic independence.
