KP Govt Prioritizing Skills and Self-Reliance for Persons with Disabilities: Adviser
KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - September 04, 2026) Adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Social Welfare, Zakat, and Women Empowerment, Liaquat Ali Khan, has stated that the provincial government is focusing on skill development and self-reliance for individuals with disabilities and deserving families instead of solely relying on relief assistance.
Addressing an open court at the District Council Hall Kohat, organized in line with the vision of Imran Khan and directives of the KP Chief Minister, he said measures are being taken to ensure transparent and equitable access to social welfare schemes for all eligible citizens.
The open court was attended by Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah, Additional Secretary Social Welfare, and Deputy Commissioner Kohat Muhammad Nawaz Wazir.
Citizens raised complaints and sought solutions regarding various welfare programs, including Sahara, Roshan Mustaqbil, Umeed, Ehsaas, educational initiatives, and Zakat, along with calls for wider awareness campaigns to ensure that deserving people could benefit from available facilities.
In response to the participants, Liaquat Ali assured that grievances concerning the distribution of benefits would be addressed promptly and equal access would be ensured across the district, including Darra Adam Khel. He announced plans to establish skill centres at the district level and distribute sewing machines to promote financial independence. Additionally, sewing machines and wheelchairs were also distributed among deserving beneficiaries.
