KP Govt Takes Action Against 589 Employees in 827 Accountability Cases
UrduPoint (August 24, 2026) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken disciplinary action against 589 government officers and employees after concluding 629 of the 827 accountability cases registered since October 2025.
A meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi revealed that:
- 198 cases were still under process.
- 40 employees were exonerated in the decided cases.
The action taken includes:
- Removal from service (128)
- Dismissal (18)
- Compulsory retirement (6)
- Demotion (2)
- Recovery from salaries (89)
- Arrest of one employee
- Withholding promotions (39)
Additionally, the following actions were taken:
- 16 employees charge-sheeted
- 14 faced salary cuts
- 10 suspended
- Warnings issued to 155
- 52 reprimanded
Unauthorized absence was the most common offence, accounting for 447 cases (around 54 percent of the total). Other cases included:
- Negligence of duty (120)
- Corruption and financial irregularities (75)
- Incompetence (75)
- Misconduct (14)
- Poor supervision (13)
- Violation of rules (11)
The meeting also noted:
- 221 show-cause notices
- 279 explanation cases
- 184 inquiries
- 102 suspensions
- 23 expressions of displeasure
- 9 cases with officers placed on the OSD list.
District offices accounted for 305 cases, attached departments and institutions 263, and central departments 259.
Disciplinary action was also taken against 90 employees at District Headquarters Hospital Swabi and 61 employees at DHQ Hospital Lakki Marwat during field inspections in the health sector.
The Chief Minister emphasized accountability without discrimination, reiterating the government's zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
