The rest of Pakistan will remain open, but no one will be able to enter or leave KP; are they repeating the conspiracy that led to East Pakistan? Whatever the conspiracy, we will not let Pakistan break apart, the KP chief minister said.
PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Sep, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi has stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be isolated from the rest of Pakistan today, with all travel routes being closed.
"Are they repeating the conspiracy that led to East Pakistan? Whatever conspiracy they hatch, we will not let Pakistan break apart. We will make sacrifices for our homeland," he declared.
Addressing a provincial cabinet meeting, Afridi accused plainclothes individuals of targeting his party workers, organizational office-bearers, and elected representatives for the past three or four days. He highlighted attempts on Communications and Works Minister Shakeel Khan's life, as well as an unsuccessful abduction attempt against him. Additionally, he noted that plainclothes individuals had also visited Irrigation Minister Riaz Khan's home the previous day.
Similarly, he claimed that workers and elected representatives faced similar treatment in Dera Ismail Khan and other districts. MNA Fazal Khan was abducted in Mardan, while unknown assailants raided Fakhar Jahan’s residence.
"Our elected representatives and ministers are being targeted," Afridi emphasized. He considered these actions unacceptable and expressed concern over statements made by Rana Sanaullah, who described people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as terrorists. Furthermore, he found Maryam Safdar's statement, expressing fear of the other three provinces rather than India, highly alarming.
"Today, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be cut off from the rest of Pakistan," Afridi announced. "All routes to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be closed. The rest of Pakistan will remain open, but no one will be able to travel to or from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa."
He questioned the purpose behind isolating Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and closing all routes: "Is a conspiracy being hatched? Is an attempt being made to repeat a tragedy like East Pakistan?"
Afridi declared his unwavering commitment to Pakistan's unity: "My clear message to whoever is behind any such conspiracy is that we were Pakistanis, we are Pakistanis, and God willing, we will remain Pakistanis."
