KU Forms Three-Member Panel To Probe Complaints Over Affiliated Law Colleges’ Second-Year Results
The committee includes representatives of the Supreme Court, Sindh High Court, and Federal Higher Education Commission and will examine students' scrutiny requests, records, and mark sheets before reporting to the university administration.
KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Nov, 2026) A three-member committee comprising representatives of the Supreme Court, Sindh High Court, and the Federal Higher Education Commission has been constituted to conduct impartial and transparent investigations into complaints regarding the second-year results and mark sheets of the University of Karachi’s affiliated law colleges.
The committee will present its fact-based report to the University administration after thoroughly examining, considering, and discussing the matter with all stakeholders. This process will include meetings with affected students, copy checkers, and individuals responsible for reviewing answer scripts following scrutiny requests. The members will also visit the Examination Department and hold discussions with the Controller of Examinations and other relevant officials.
According to details, certain students had pointed out alleged discrepancies and errors in the announced examination results. They maintained that they had successfully passed the examinations, yet were declared unsuccessful in the issued mark sheets.
In this regard, affected students submitted formal scrutiny requests, claiming that they were entitled to be declared successful in the B.A./LL.B examinations.
It was clarified that, under prevailing rules, the scrutiny process allows only for re-totaling or re-counting of marks, whereas re-evaluation of answer scripts does not fall within the scope of scrutiny. In view of the legal and administrative dimensions of the matter, the University of Karachi resolved to ensure an independent and transparent inquiry.
Accordingly, a three-member committee has been formed, comprising Justice (R) Zia Pervez, Justice (R) Nadeem Akhtar, and Dr Nazir Hussain of the Federal Higher Education Commission. The committee has been entrusted with fact-finding responsibilities and will review all relevant records and evidence before submitting its report to the KU administration, so that the matter may be resolved on a priority basis in a fair and transparent manner.
The Committee, which was constituted last week, will have its first meeting at the Vice Chancellor Secretariat, on Wednesday, November 04, at 12:00 noon.
It was also decided that a comprehensive academic calendar for the affiliated law colleges will be prepared, encompassing all teaching, academic, and examination activities throughout the year. This calendar will be presented for approval in the next meeting of the KU Academic Council which will take place in the current month.
The University of Karachi reiterates its commitment to ensuring academic integrity and fairness in all examination-related matters.
