Lahore Police Receive 1,000 Body Cameras for Surveillance
Lahore, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Sep, 2026) The first batch of body cameras has been received under the plan to equip Lahore Police with modern technology.
According to the details, the initial shipment consisting of 1,000 modern body cameras will be provided to Lahore Police personnel. According to officials, a total of 30,000 body cameras were approved for the Punjab Police. These modern cameras offer advanced features such as audio and video recording, group call, push-to-talk, and facial recognition.
Body cameras will be distributed to all operational forces, including the CTD, operational and investigation police, traffic police, elite force, highway patrol, and various other police units. They will also be provided to officers posted at police stations and police posts.
Through these body cameras, officers will be able to record audio and video of police operations, along with live monitoring. Videos recorded during duty will be stored in the body camera and automatically transferred to the system upon returning to the dock station. Immediate communication between field officers and the control room will also be possible through the push-to-talk feature.
Previously, IG Punjab had requested Rs 269.5 crore for the purchase of body cameras.
