Jay-Z brought his iconic career to the UK with a two-hour headline show at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium—his first in over a decade. The performance was part of his Jay-Z 30 tour, celebrating the 30th anniversary of his debut album Reasonable Doubt.
The US rap superstar delivered hits like "99 Problems," "Empire State of Mind," and "Dead Presidents" as he took to the stage for the first time in London this year. He was joined by an array of special guests, including The Miseducation legend Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and UK rapper Giggs.
The Show Unfolds
British actor Sir Idris Elba kicked off the evening with a performance from his 2007 album American Gangster. Jay-Z then recalled his early days in London in 1989, sharing how it became a pivotal place in his career.
His set list included fan favorites like "Izzo (H.O.V.A.)", "On To the Next One," and "Song Cry." Vintage video clips from his past played on a massive LED screen as an orchestra and guitarists accompanied him.
The crowd sang along to "Run This Town" and "Empire State of Mind," demonstrating the enduring impact of these iconic tracks. Jay-Z also expressed gratitude to his fans, stating that music saved his life.
He performed emotional tracks like "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)" and "Where I'm From," reflecting on his Brooklyn upbringing. The energy surged for "No Church in the Wild," which featured firework displays adding to the intensity.
Originally a collaboration with Kanye West (known as Ye), Jay-Z performed the chorus while cutting out his verses during their joint hit. DJ Khaled had a brief appearance, followed by a highly anticipated set from London-born rapper Giggs, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
