LGH Announces Historic Expansion Project to Enhance Patient Care

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - September 05, 2026) The administration of Lahore General Hospital (LGH) on Saturday has taken a major and historic decision to construct an additional floor on its Outdoor Building in view of the rising number of patients and the growing need for modern treatment facilities.
The project, estimated to cost approximately Rs.600 million, will significantly enhance the hospital's capacity and enable the provision of improved, modern, and quality healthcare services to patients. The state-of-the-art additional floor will be constructed with the generous financial support of a philanthropic Pakistani family residing in the United States.
LGH and Ameer-ud-Din Medical College Principal, Professor Farooq Afzal, formally announced the project while addressing a ceremony on Saturday.
He said the construction of the additional floor would provide substantial relief to the large number of patients visiting the hospital daily. The expansion would also enable the hospital to install modern medical equipment and provide essential facilities in line with contemporary healthcare requirements.
Professor Farooq Afzal stated that approval for the project had been obtained from the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department and the institution's Board of Management, following which the relevant departments were taken on board.
He added that after completion of the necessary process, the philanthropic Pakistani family based in the United States had assured financial support for the construction of the state-of-the-art floor.

The medical teachers and participants paid rich tributes to Professor Farooq Afzal for his services and described the initiative as a historic step towards expanding modern healthcare facilities and improving patient care at Lahore General Hospital.
