LUMHS Postgraduate Symposium 2026: VC Stresses Research and Professional Training for Young Doctors

Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, organized the LUMHS Postgraduate Symposium 2026 at Latif Hall on Thursday as part of the Medical Undergraduate Research Conference (MURC) 2026. The event brought together senior faculty members, medical experts, researchers, and postgraduate trainee doctors to discuss various academic and specialized topics related to:

Keynote Speakers and Topics:

  • Professor Dr Manzoor Ali Lakhair, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, delivered a welcome address.
  • Professor Dr Amir Jaafri (CBEC-SIUT) spoke on "Physician-Researcher: Ethical Challenges in Local Contexts".
  • Professor Dr Zill-e-Huma (Khyber Medical University) shared insights on "Striving, Seeking and Success — Beyond the Degree".
  • Dr Samar Fatima (AKUH) discussed "Evidence-Based National Clinical Guidelines".

A panel discussion titled "How to Succeed in Professional Examinations" featured Professor Dr Shazia Memon, Professor Dr Kiran Amir, Professor Dr Aun Khuwaja, Professor Dr Rano Mal, and Dr Rabia Anees.

Address by LUMHS Vice Chancellor:

LUMHS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Ikram Din Ujjan emphasized the significance of postgraduate education, research, and continuous professional training for young doctors and researchers. He highlighted the need for a conducive environment to promote research, critical thinking, and scientific approaches to enhance healthcare.

Professor Ujjan also stressed ethical medical practice and treatment based on modern scientific evidence, encouraging postgraduate doctors to actively participate in research and contribute to improving patient care and the healthcare sector.
