The question is no longer whether there will be a long march on October 4; the far more important question, according to anchorperson Kamran Shahid, is whether Sohail Afridi will be the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister on October 4 or not.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Sep, 2026) Anchorperson Kamran Shahid has raised a major question about whether Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi will remain in office until October 4. In a post on X, he stated this was a breaking development and that the focus should not be on PTI’s long march on October 4, but on whether Sohail Afridi will still be the chief minister on that date.
Speaking on Geo news’ program “Naya Pakistan,” anchorperson Shahzad Iqbal questioned the reason behind postponing the long march. He asked whether PTI’s decision was due to a lack of preparation or behind-the-scenes government assurances.
A PTI leader confirmed the march's postponement but denied a lack of preparation. They claimed PTI wanted to play a Test match, as October 5th is Imran Khan’s birthday, adding symbolic significance. While PTI indicates they plan to play a Test match, our sources suggest the government has other plans. We have reached out to various sources regarding this.
Decision-makers assert that PTI’s long march is no longer the primary concern. They claim PTI may proceed with or postpone the march as desired. They further state that the matter has progressed and now constitutes a national security issue. The underlying allegation is that Sohail Afridi and his associates are collaborating with terrorists, leading to increased terrorism in the country. Consequently, it has been decided that Sohail Afridi’s government must end.
Federal Minister Atta Tarar also expressed similar views, accusing PTI of aiding terrorists.
