Major Fire at Derelict Peaky Blinders Mill in Keighley

A massive blaze broke out at Dalton Mills, a derelict mill complex used for filming Peaky Blinders and Downton Abbey, at approximately 20:00 BST on Saturday. At its peak, the fire required 12 fire engines to extinguish it.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) confirmed that due to the severity of the incident, several nearby residents were evacuated, and as of 23:00 BST, 10 fire engines remained at the scene. They advised members of the public to avoid the area to ensure safe operation for emergency services.
This is the third fire this year at the Grade II-listed Victorian building. Previous incidents in July 2025 and a major fire in 2022 have led to concerns over deliberate arson, with two teenagers convicted in relation to the latter.
Local MP Robbie Moore expressed his deep frustration regarding the repeated fires, stating, "This situation simply cannot continue." He is working with local authorities to address security issues at the site.
The Crown Estate, now legally responsible for the building under ancient property laws, has been made aware of security concerns and is collaborating with Historic England on additional measures.
