Major Power Outage Hits Kurram After 132kV Tower Collapses
PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - August 25, 2026) A major power outage has hit the Kurram district after a 132kV transmission tower collapsed amid heavy rain and strong winds in upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the district administration, power supply across the district has remained suspended for the third consecutive day, causing serious difficulties for residents. The collapse of the tower on the main 132kV transmission line disrupted electricity supply throughout Kurram.
The prolonged outage has also affected water supply, as several tube wells remain non-operational due to the lack of electricity.
Residents are facing additional difficulties as religious gatherings are being held at various locations during the days of Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
According to TESCO officials, repair and reconstruction work on the damaged transmission tower is expected to begin today. They anticipate that complete restoration of electricity could take several more days.
Residents have urged the authorities to speed up repair and restoration efforts and restore electricity supply to the district as soon as possible.
