Man Gets Life Imprisonment For Smuggling Hashish In Ambulance

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint) - An Anti-Narcotics Court here on Friday sentenced a man to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs500,000 for attempting to smuggle 12 kg of hashish using an ambulance. The court also ordered the confiscation of the ambulance used to transport the drugs.
Judge Sumbal Naseer issued a 21-page written verdict in the case. According to the prosecution, on January 8, 2025, an Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) team stopped a suspicious ambulance near a private restaurant on Peshawar’s Ring Road and conducted a search. The ambulance was being driven by Arif Khan, a resident of Bannu.
The prosecution stated that 10 packets of drugs were recovered from the roof and secret compartments of the ambulance.
In its written judgment, the court observed that the evidence on record, including the recovery memo and a positive report from the Forensic Science Laboratory, established that the accused had attempted to smuggle 12kg of hashish under the guise of an ambulance driver. Based on this evidence, the court sentenced Arif Khan to life imprisonment, imposed a Rs500,000 fine, and ordered the confiscation of the ambulance used in the offense.
