The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a man accused of disseminating false and misleading information about state institutions on social media.

According to NCCIA, the suspect, identified as Muhammad Sarwar Arif from Lahore, was apprehended during an investigation into his alleged involvement in circulating misleading content about state bodies.

Three mobile phones were seized from the individual and sent for forensic examination to uncover additional digital evidence. The agency stressed that actions against those found spreading false or unsubstantiated information about state institutions via social media are ongoing.

Investigators are analyzing the recovered devices for digital materials, social media activity, and other relevant data to understand the scope of the alleged activity. They will also investigate potential links between the suspect and others engaged in similar activities.

Legal action against cybercrimes will continue as per applicable laws, with further proceedings contingent upon evidence gathered during the digital forensic examination.
