Man Posing as Doctor Arrested at Lahore General Hospital
UrduPoint (September 18, 2026) - A man impersonating a doctor has been arrested at Lahore's General Hospital (LGH) after hospital authorities caught him attempting to interact with patients and their relatives under false pretences.
According to LGH sources, the accused, Hassan Ejaz from Shalimar Town, Kahna, was handed over to police on Thursday. A case has been filed against him under Sections 419 and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code at Kot Lakhpat Police Station.
Medical Superintendent LGH, Prof. Dr Faryad Hussain, stated that the Duty DMS (Emergency) swiftly initiated legal action against the alleged imposter, emphasizing that no concessions would be given to anyone posing as a doctor while treating patients. He highlighted the hospital administration's commitment to ensuring patient safety and safeguarding their trust.
Prof. Dr Faryad Hussain further announced the reinforcement of surveillance measures within the hospital premises to prevent similar incidents in the future. He encouraged citizens to promptly inform the hospital administration if they encountered anyone claiming to be a doctor or demanding money for treatment, enabling timely legal intervention.
The details reveal that Hassan Ejaz had been presenting himself as a doctor at LGH and interacting with patients and their relatives. When questioned about his identity, designation, and professional qualifications by the Duty DMS, he provided evasive answers and exhibited signs of nervousness. Subsequent verification confirmed his lack of affiliation with the hospital, leading to his handover to police for further action.
