Mauritius Envoy Highlights Trade Potential for Pakistani Products

UrduPoint (1st Sep, 2026) - Sargodha, Pakistan: Mauritius offers promising market opportunities for Pakistani products, especially basmati rice, information technology, jewelry, handicrafts, and cosmetics, according to Mauritius Ambassador to Pakistan Mansoor Kurumbaks.

He made this statement while addressing members of the Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

Kurumbaks noted that Pakistani basmati rice is highly popular among Mauritian consumers. He also expressed optimism about a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Pakistan and Mauritius, which could expand bilateral trade. He assured that measures would be taken to facilitate visa arrangements for business delegations and strengthen business-to-business contacts.

SCCI President Khawaja Yasir Qayyum emphasized the need for stronger trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. He highlighted Sargodha’s major exportable products, including kinnow, rice, textiles, electrical goods, wooden handicrafts, and pink salt.

Former SCCI President Malik Asif Ameer Awan agreed, stating that greater market access for Pakistani products would further strengthen commercial ties.

The ambassador and his delegation were briefed on SCCI activities. The chamber president presented him with a commemorative shield, followed by a luncheon hosted in the delegation’s honor. A separate luncheon was also organized at Sargodha Gymkhana Club, attended by prominent chamber members.
