SARGODHA: Mauritius High Commissioner Munsoo Kurrimbaccus visited the University of Sargodha (UoS) on Monday to explore collaboration between Pakistan and Mauritius in higher education. This includes the potential:
- Establishment of a joint international-standard university campus
- Joint degree programs
- Academic and research initiatives
- Faculty and student exchanges
During his visit, Commissioner Kurrimbaccus met with UoS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaiser Abbas and Prof Dr Ejaz Asghar Bhatti, Director of External Linkages.
Dr Abbas highlighted the University of Sargodha's rise among Pakistan's top 10 universities in education and research, emphasizing its focus on preparing students for future challenges and industry-relevant programs.
Kurrimbaccus expressed his impression with UoS' academic standing, discipline, and infrastructure, noting that while he had visited many Pakistani universities, UoS was particularly outstanding. He mentioned Mauritius’ existing research partnerships with only two Pakistan institutions: University of Karachi and University of Sargodha.
Noting UoS' strong performance, Kurrimbaccus stated that Mauritius aims to initiate a new academic partnership with the university, potentially leading to a cooperation agreement signed by the Mauritius Minister of Education during a forthcoming visit to Pakistan.
The high commissioner toured various academic and administrative departments of the university during his visit.
