The Anti-Corruption Establishment in Multan region arrested a clerk of Municipal Corporation Mian Channu on August 25, 2026, while he was red-handed receiving a bribe of Rs15,000. (Source: APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News)
Operation Details:
The operation was led by Regional Director Anti-Corruption Establishment Multan, Basharat Nabi, and Assistant Director Investigation Anti-Corruption Khanewal, Kashif Mahmood. A judicial magistrate oversaw the raid.
Accused & Allegations:
Muhammad Tahir Ali, a clerk at Municipal Corporation Mian Channu, was accused of accepting Rs15,000 from a complainant in exchange for facilitating the issuance of birth certificates. Marked currency notes were recovered and seized as evidence.
Previous Incident:
Ali had previously received Rs10,000 from the same complainant, Tauseef Azam, for preparing documents; he was subsequently arrested while receiving the remaining bribe.
Legal Actions:
A case has been registered against Ali under relevant legal provisions and further investigations are ongoing.
