Measures Reviewed To Curb Unsafe Farm Transport

Assistant Commissioner Gujrat Abdul Qadeer Zarkoon chaired a meeting to review measures to curb overloading and unsafe transportation of paddy husk, sugarcane, and wood.
According to an official source, Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), traffic police officials, officers of the Forest and Agriculture departments, and representatives of the Farmers Association Gujrat attended the meeting.
The participants reviewed the implementation of road safety standard operating procedures (SOPs) in line with government directives and stressed strict compliance to prevent accidents and ensure safe transportation on roads.
Farmers and village headmen (lambardars) assured the administration of their full cooperation in implementing traffic safety SOPs and avoiding unsafe transportation practices.
The meeting decided to convene a follow-up session with representatives of the Rice Shellers Association to ensure mandatory compaction of paddy husk before transportation. It was also decided that transportation of loose and uncompacted paddy husk on roads would not be allowed. Relevant departments were directed to take necessary measures to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
