Watch: Meet 'Backpack', the chunky bear who won Fat Bear Week
BBC News reports on a charming event in Alaska's Katmai National Park—the annual Fat Bear Week competition. This year, Backpack, a particularly portly bear, emerged victorious after a close battle with Bear 910, winning by a margin of just 4,711 votes.
The Competition
The contest celebrated the bears' impressive weight gain over the summer months, determined by visitor votes based on photos submitted to Katmai National Park's website. It was a celebration of size, skill, snack acquisition, and strategic loafing.
