Modern Counseling Hall Inaugurated at LGH's Psychiatry Department

Lahore General Hospital Unveils a State-of-the-Art Facility

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Sep, 2026) A modern counseling hall equipped with the latest facilities has been established in the Department of Psychiatry at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) and named after renowned psychiatrist, Prof. Altaf Qadir. The inauguration ceremony took place on Friday.

Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal, Principal of Ameer-ud-Din Medical College/Postgraduate Medical Institute, formally opened the Prof. Altaf Qadir Counseling Hall. In his address, he emphasized the importance of psychological and functional rehabilitation alongside medical treatments for complete patient recovery. He noted that group therapy and occupational therapy are crucial to help patients regain social and mental abilities, enabling them to reintegrate into society.

The newly inaugurated hall is designed as a dedicated space for group therapy and occupational therapy, aiming to expedite patient rehabilitation. Prof. Faiza Athar, Head of the Psychiatry Department, highlighted the benefits of this facility for patients and its potential to raise mental health awareness in society.

Medical experts expressed that the modern counseling hall will enhance patient care and contribute to future positive changes in mental health awareness.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Faiza Athar, Prof. Altaf Qadir, Prof. Faheem, Dr. Maheen Rizwan, Dr. Rafia Bukhari, Dr. Asma Gul, Ms. Alia Sadaf, and many other healthcare professionals.
