Moment Esther Rantzen Surprised Nicholas Winton with Children He Saved

BBC News reports on a heartwarming moment when Esther Rantzen surprised Nicholas Winton, a World War II hero, with an audience of children he had rescued from Nazi forces.

In a 1988 episode of "That's Life!," Rantzen presented Winton with an assembly of children, now grown up, who he had saved. His remarkable deed remained largely unrecognized for almost 50 years until his wife discovered a scrapbook in their loft, detailing the names of 669 mostly Jewish children he had rescued.

Rantzen, reflecting on the episode, shared that she watched it "many times" and was "deeply moved" each time. She maintained a connection with Winton until his passing in 2015 at the age of 106.
