More Rain, Strong Winds Expected In Abbottabad On September 4–5
The Meteorological Department has forecast further rainfall, accompanied by strong winds, windstorms, thunderstorms and lightning across Abbottabad and adjoining areas from September 4 to 5, prompting the district administration to intensify precautionary measures.
According to the weather forecast, the expected spell of unsettled weather may create risks in vulnerable areas, particularly around low-lying locations, drainage channels and other points prone to water accumulation. Strong winds and thunderstorms may also affect travel and outdoor activities.
In view of the forecast, the Abbottabad district administration has directed all relevant departments to remain alert and take necessary precautionary measures to deal with any possible emergency situation. The administration has also ordered continued monitoring of vulnerable and critical points across the district. Cleaning of drains and water channels is being carried out, while action against encroachments obstructing waterways is also continuing to ensure the smooth flow of rainwater and reduce the risk of urban flooding.
Relevant departments have been directed to maintain close coordination and remain prepared to respond promptly to any weather-related incident.
