More Than 442,000 Licenses Issued In Three Weeks
LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 23rd Aug, 2026) A record increase has been witnessed in the issuance of driving licenses across Punjab, with more than 442,000 licenses issued during the last three weeks.
According to a Punjab Traffic Police spokesperson, over 149,000 citizens obtained learner licenses, while more than 143,000 were issued regular driving licenses during the period. Another 146,000 citizens obtained learner, regular and international driving licenses.
He highlighted that more than 1,000 lost driving licenses were reissued, while over 3,000 citizens were issued international driving permits.
Over 73,000 citizens also availed themselves of the online driving license facility.
DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir said the issuance of driving licenses was continuing across the province in accordance with the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz. He stated that driving without a valid license was a violation of the law, and motorists found driving without licenses were facing heavy fines and strict legal action.
The DIG further emphasized that traffic police were also conducting awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the importance of obtaining and carrying valid driving licenses.
