Shafi Jan addressed the controversy surrounding his remarks about Uzma Bukhari, stating that his statement had been misinterpreted. He clarified his position on Geo News, questioning whether Uzma Bukhari had apologized for calling Pashtuns "wild."

"The kind of wild statements she is making, we also have people who can go there and make wild statements," Jan said. "If someone is interpreting this incorrectly, that is a question of their mentality." He added that he would refrain from issuing a statement if Uzma Bukhari apologized.

Jan also commented on Maryam Nawaz’s statement, challenging her for giving Narendra Modi a clean chit while holding provincial governments responsible. He accused her remarks about smaller provinces of attempting to disunite the country and described her as a "threat" to Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Haba Fouad, wife of former minister Fawad Chaudhry, condemned Shafi Jan’s language towards Uzma Bukhari, calling it shameful. In a post on X, she stated:

"Political differences are a separate matter, but humiliating a woman is unacceptable under any circumstances."

Fouad demanded an apology from Jan for his inappropriate remarks and emphasized the importance of respecting women.

This follows Shafi Jan’s earlier statement in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, where he called for an apology from Maryam Nawaz for her comments about Pashtuns. He stated: "If you like wild people so much, we can send them to you."

Jan also criticized Maryam Nawaz for absolving Modi of responsibility and contradicting Pakistan’s national narrative against Indian aggression. He questioned who was responsible for Modi’s actions if there was no threat from neighboring provinces.
