NA Committee Urges Automatic Implementation Of Revised Minimum Wages

NA Committee urges the automatic implementation of revised minimum wages, to be paid as soon as announced, across all bodies under the Ministry. They recommended raising grants for workers affected by incidents to Rs3 million.

The Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis met to review its previous recommendations and consider three government bills:

  • Employees' Old-Age Benefits (Amendment) Bill, 2026
  • Industrial Relations (Amendment) Bill, 2026
  • Emigration (Amendment) Bill, 2026

The committee expressed reservations over some replies regarding minimum wage implementation and recommended boards and organizations to establish rules or mechanisms for automatic wage increases.

They also reviewed the coal mine incident in Sorrange, Balochistan, and noted actions taken by the Mines and Labour Departments, recommending increased grants for affected workers.

The committee deferred the three amendment bills and requested detailed information on the investment portfolio and interest income of the Ministry's departments. They also recommended the Workers Welfare Fund to provide complete proposal details to the Committee in the future.
