NA Passes National Command Authority, Defence Forces of Pakistan Bills
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Aug, 2026) The National Assembly on Thursday passed the National Command Authority Amendment Bill 2026 and the Defence Forces of Pakistan Bill 2026.
National Command Authority Amendment Bill 2026
Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif tabled this bill in the House. The Assembly passed it clause by clause through majority votes.
According to the statement of objects and reasons:
- The purpose is to align the National Command Authority Act, 2010 with the Constitutional (27th Amendment) Act, 2025 and make consequential amendments.
- This bill aims to achieve this objective.
Defence Forces of Pakistan Bill 2026
The bill highlights Pakistan’s response to Indian unprovoked aggression, showcasing integrated tri-services jointness and network-centric warfare capabilities.
It emphasizes:
- The effectiveness of counter terrorism operations in the western region alongside Operation Bunyan ul Marsoos.
- The success of Marka-e-Haq, demonstrating synergy between national power elements.
- The establishment of Defence Forces Headquarters as the Armed Forces’ headquarters under the command of the Chief of Defence Forces, who will be the principal military advisor to the Prime Minister.
