Navy Day: Admiral Naveed Ashraf Visits Martyrs’ Memorial

Saluting the guardians of Pakistan’s maritime boundaries, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the Pakistan Navy’s important role in regional peace.
Ceremony at Martyrs’ Memorial
The nation commemorated Navy Day across the country, honoring Pakistan Navy martyrs and veterans.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf visited the Martyrs’ Memorial and offered a salute on the occasion. A dignified ceremony was held at the Memorial at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, with Admiral Ashraf as the chief guest. He laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha for the departed souls.
Officers, Chief Petty Officers, sailors, and civilian personnel of the Pakistan Navy, along with families of the martyrs, attended the event.
1965 War and Pakistan Navy’s Bravery
During the 1965 war, the Pakistan Navy demonstrated its capabilities and bravery, conducting crucial operations against the enemy while defending the country's maritime boundaries.
President Zardari’s Message
In his message on Navy Day, President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the bravery of Pakistan Navy officers, sailors, and civilians. He recalled Operation Somnath, highlighting the Pakistan Navy’s glorious history and its courage and resolve during the 1965 war.
The President noted the Pakistan Navy's role in regional peace and maritime defense, as well as its contribution to global cooperation through peace exercises and dialogue. He also praised its responsiveness during natural disasters and emergencies.
Prime Minister Sharif’s Congratulatory Message
In his message, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Pakistan Navy officers, personnel, and their families on Navy Day. He expressed the nation's gratitude to the martyrs, veterans, former personnel, and serving officers and sailors for their exceptional service in defending the country and continuing to perform their duties with courage, sacrifice, and devotion.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence in the Pakistan Navy’s professional capabilities, discipline, and operational preparedness, asserting that it would continue upholding its proud traditions with honor and distinction.
