Nine Professional Beggars Arrested In Joint Operation In Quetta

Quetta, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Sep, 2026) Director General Social Welfare Balochistan Mir Saifullah Khan Khetran on Friday stated that per the specific directive of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Balochistan, the Social Welfare Department—in collaboration with the Balochistan District Administration—is actively working to eradicate professional begging and keep public spaces free from beggars.

In a recent joint operation, nine professional beggars, comprising five women, were arrested, he revealed during an interview with APP.

Khetran expressed that the primary objective of the Social Welfare Department is to ensure the welfare and rehabilitation of deserving, vulnerable, and special individuals within society, integrating them as respected and independent members.

He differentiated between genuine needy individuals and those involved in professional begging, emphasizing that the department would implement more effective measures while adhering to these distinctions.

The Director General clarified that, beyond preventing professional begging, the Social Welfare Department of Balochistan is committed to providing rehabilitation, social security, and dignified employment opportunities to deserving citizens. It will thoroughly assess the requirements of genuinely needy individuals, enabling them to benefit from available welfare programs.

This initiative was led by Assistant Commissioner Brewery Kashif Amar, Assistant Commissioner Panjpai Abdul Qayyum, and Social Welfare Officer Abdul Razzaq, who conducted a joint operation in areas surrounding Shahbaz Town and Jinnah Town.

Khetran further pledged to strengthen collaboration between the Social Welfare Department and district administration, intensifying efforts to prevent professional begging in public spaces, markets, highways, and other vital locations. His aim is not only to enforce regulations but also to identify truly deserving individuals, rehabilitate them, and help them regain a dignified life.

He assured that such actions against professional begging would continue tirelessly, aiming to discourage organized begging in public places and ensure effective social security for all deserving sections of society.
