Russian President Vladimir Putin has asserted that Russia harbours no aggressive intentions towards Europe and is prepared to mend relations, while also noting that Moscow would be compelled to act if Europe opted for war.

According to Russian broadcaster RT news, addressing a meeting of the Military-Industrial Commission in Moscow, President Putin accused certain European nations of plotting against Russia. He claimed these countries were leveraging the Ukraine conflict and perceived Russian threats to justify their policies.

Putin stated:

“I want to reiterate that Russia has no hostile designs towards Europe or European countries; there is simply no basis for such notions. We are open to cooperation and restoring ties with our European neighbours.”

He continued, criticising European actions like seizing civilian vessels in defiance of international law, while emphasising Russia’s commitment to its principles. Putin added, “Let us live in peace, or we will be forced to respond.”

In his address, Putin also outlined Russia's new state defence programme priorities, highlighting their significance for ensuring Russian sovereignty and global power balance. He revealed that 92% of Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces now possess modern weaponry.
