Alvaro Arbeloa: Focus on Fulham, not me, says head coach
BBC Sport journalist Lorraine McKenna reports on Fulham head coach Alvaro Arbeloa's message ahead of their Premier League clash with Hull City. Despite recent setbacks and increasing pressure, Arbeloa emphasizes the importance of the team and the supporters, not his personal future.
Quotes:
- "It is not about me, it is about the club, the players and the supporters."
- "It is important for all of us."
- "They (the players) did for many minutes against Ipswich. We did against Manchester United and we did against Liverpool."
Context:
Arbeloa, under contract for three years, joined Fulham in the summer following his time as Real Madrid's interim coach. Despite high hopes from the club and positive references from Florentino Perez and Jose Mourinho, his tenure has been marked by disappointing results.
If he survives this weekend's test against Hull City, Arbeloa will face another promoted side, Coventry City, in the following league game.
