Tottenham have gone over half a century without a league goal to start the season, dating back to 1974-75. A draw with Nottingham Forest at least gets Roberto de Zerbi's side their first point but not what they wanted.
After defeats to Brentford and Newcastle, Spurs have failed to score in their opening three league games for the first time since 1974-75 due to a significant summer transfer outlay. Despite not playing badly, more is expected from De Zerbi's side.
The Italian coach preached patience, acknowledging that with 10 senior arrivals, his team is still finding its identity. A point against Forest, their first there in almost three years, was a positive outcome.
De Zerbi mentioned: "We bought very, very good players but you can't just build the team with names like in Football Manager." He remained calm after another blank sheet, focusing on the performance rather than the result.
He added: "We have to improve in every part of football... We have to work because I think we played very well with the ball..." De Zerbi highlighted decision-making as an area for improvement, specifically mentioning new signing Omar Marmoush's missed chance.
