Notification Issued For Sindh Local Government Amendment Act 2026

A copy of the amendment act has been sent to mayors, municipal commissioners, and town chairpersons.
KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Nov, 2026) The notification for the Sindh Local Government Amendment Act 2026 has been issued. The Local Government Department has sent the notification to all local government institutions.
The Sindh Assembly approved the amendment act on 14 September, and copies have also been sent to mayors, municipal commissioners and town chairpersons.
Local government institutions have been directed to implement the provisions of the amendment act. Once the term of a local council ends, the incumbent mayor will perform duties as administrator. The existing mayor will continue exercising powers until the new mayor assumes office. Similarly, the incumbent town chairperson will work as administrator until the new chairperson takes charge. The existing chairperson will continue exercising powers until the new chairperson assumes office.
