- The price of petrol has been reduced by Rs6.88 per litre, while the price of diesel has been increased by Rs3.47 per litre.
- The new price of petrol is set at Rs390.79 per litre and diesel at Rs424.92 per litre.
These new prices will take effect from midnight tonight.
International prices of crude oil and petroleum products remain high, with global oil prices also affecting Pakistan.
Questions were raised over the determination of petroleum product prices during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Petroleum, chaired by Senator Umar Farooq.
Senator Saifullah Abro questioned the formula for determining petroleum product prices, noting that while international prices had declined, no reduction was reflected in Pakistan. He also highlighted the absence of local oil and gas production data in the pricing formula. The committee sought a detailed analysis from the Petroleum Division on their current price-setting mechanism.
Senator Abro additionally requested details regarding relief for motorcycles and other vehicles, as well as expenditure on publicizing related schemes.
