On 60th Anniversary, PM Shehbaz, DPM Dar Reaffirm Commitment To Deepen Pakistan-Singapore Ties
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Aug, 2026) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar have reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to strengthening the bilateral partnership with Singapore in multiple spheres, including trade and investment, as both countries commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz wrote a letter to Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong, and Ishaq Dar wrote separately to Singaporean Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, wherein they extended their heartiest felicitations on behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan on the diamond jubilee of bilateral relations, established on August 17, 1966.
Prime Minister Shehbaz stated that over the past six decades, the friendship between Pakistan and Singapore had grown steadily, anchored in mutual respect, goodwill, and the spirit of the Commonwealth. The bilateral ties spanned trade and investment, education, culture, and people-to-people exchange.
He reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering commitment to further strengthening the bilateral partnership and expressed a strong desire to expand collaboration both bilaterally and through multilateral forums, including ASEAN, the Commonwealth, and the United Nations.
The prime minister also extended his best wishes for his Singaporean counterpart's continued good health, happiness, and success, as well as for peace, progress, and prosperity of the friendly people of Singapore.
In a separate message to Singapore's Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stressed that this milestone offered a timely opportunity to inject renewed energy into bilateral ties.
He expressed keenness to work closely with Singapore to deepen trade and investment cooperation, particularly in high-growth sectors such as the digital economy, climate, fintech, and innovation.
Ishaq Dar extended a formal invitation to Foreign Minister Balakrishnan to visit Islamabad for continued high-level exchanges, expressing confidence that the 60th-anniversary celebrations would usher in a new phase of practical and mutually beneficial cooperation between both nations.
