The mayor of the French town of Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert has signed an unusual order, banning mosquitoes from flying within the town's boundaries. While it hasn't been enforced yet, and no mosquito has been arrested or punished, Olivier Joly did so after residents reported tiger mosquitoes.

The order prohibits mosquitoes from flying both day and night, stating they constantly fly at low levels and cause itching and discomfort through their bites. It also threatens punishment for any violating insects.

While it might seem comical, the real aim is to rid the area of mosquitoes that can spread serious diseases. To achieve this, residents have been urged to take measures like preventing water from stagnating and keeping drains covered.
