Owner, Businessman, and Player: Messi's Post-National Team Career

Lionel Messi is set to play his final match for Argentina in a friendly against Benin at the Monumental in Buenos Aires. The 208th cap for the country's most capped and top scorer marks the end of an era, as Messi announced his retirement from international football on August 31st, following Argentina's World Cup final defeat by Spain.
Coach Lionel Scaloni suggests that if Messi changes his mind, he can continue playing, but it appears this chapter is closed. His club career, however, continues with a contract at Inter Miami valid until the end of 2028, renewable year by year.
Beyond Football: Messi's Business Ventures
Messi's focus extends beyond football as he explores other business interests. Although he has not detailed his post-football plans extensively, it is likely he will renew his contract with Inter Miami if he feels physically and mentally up for it.
His immediate future involves staying within football but expanding his business ventures. Messi has shown interest in becoming a sporting director or advisor to club presidents, preferring the strategic role to the demands of being a coach.
Owning a Football Club
Messi has expressed a desire to become an owner, and he is already laying the groundwork. He recently purchased UE Cornella, a nursery for young players located near Barcelona in Spain's fifth tier. Additionally, CD Eldense, a second-division club, announced Messi as its new owner on October 1st, pending approval from the Spanish Sports Council (CSD).
Eldense will serve as the hub of his football operations, with Javi Calleja, formerly of Villarreal, appointed as manager. The plan is to establish a network of trusted associates who will act as a bridge between Messi and the clubs until he can dedicate himself fully.
Messi's initial message as Eldense owner was a simple "Aupa Deportivo" (Up for Sport) posted on Instagram after the team's 4-1 win over Real Oviedo.
