Pakistan v England: Shahid Afridi criticises Pakistan’s squad changes

Pakistan has made a series of dramatic changes to their squad and coaching staff during their tour of England, with former captain Shahid Afridi branding the move as the "most shocking decision ever by a selection committee".
The tourists have dropped seven players, including those who have featured in the series so far, and called up five uncapped players. The head coach, Sarfaraz Ahmed, has also been replaced.
Afridi expressed his disbelief on social media:
"Not sure what is the logic or reasoning behind this decision! Even the replacements make no sense – T20 players have been included for a Test match in England? What is this thinking and approach?"
Pakistan’s changes:
- Dropped players: Muhammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Khurram Shahzad
- New additions: Saim Ayub, Abdullah Fazal, Arafat Minhas, Mohammed Imran Jr, Said Baig, Mohammad Imran, Razaullah
Context:
Pakistan faces England in the third and final Test at Edgbaston starting on Wednesday, 9 September. The series has been fraught with controversy, including a planned boycott by Pakistan during the second Test over an interview broadcast by Sky.
