Pakistan Hockey Federation Refuses to Play Men’s Asian Champions Trophy in India, Seeks Neutral Venue

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has refused to participate in the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy in India, citing security concerns and the current sensitive bilateral situation between Pakistan and India.
PHF President Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani stated in a formal statement that they have requested the Asian Hockey Federation to relocate the 2026 tournament or all of Pakistan's matches to a neutral venue.
Wani emphasized the need for a safe, dignified, and conducive environment for Pakistani players and officials, adding that Pakistan remains dedicated to promoting world hockey and is willing to play against all other FIH member nations, keeping sports separate from politics.
The Federation expressed hope that the Asian Hockey Federation would consider their proposal for a neutral venue to ensure Pakistan's full participation in the tournament scheduled for Jalandhar and Mohali from October 27 to November 5.
It is worth noting that besides Pakistan, India, China, Japan, Malaysia, and Korea are set to compete in this event.
