Pakistan Needs Peace, Stability: Ahsan Iqbal

Pakistan urgently needs peace, stability and economic recovery, according to Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal. He made this statement during his visit to the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) on September 24, 2026.

As reported by APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News, Iqbal emphasized the need to avoid political confrontations and instead pursue legal disputes through constitutional and judicial channels. He highlighted the country's current security challenges and the fight against terrorism, making it crucial to maintain peace and order.

Iqbal also addressed questions regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, emphasizing that he believes Imran Khan is not a political prisoner but a person convicted by a court in a case involving £190 million. He encouraged the use of legal processes for resolving disputes, citing his own past experiences where he was ultimately acquitted.

"Political differences should be channelized through constitutional and legal means," Iqbal stressed, "rather than protests, confrontation, and street agitation, which would serve the national interest." He highlighted Pakistan's ongoing war against terrorism and the enemy's attempts to create instability, emphasizing the importance of avoiding internal activities that could undermine law and order.

The minister questioned the benefits of such disruptive activities for Pakistan and called on serious and patriotic elements within the PTI to help protect both the party and the country from these influences. He also expressed the need for an empowered and effective local government system in Pakistan to address public problems efficiently.
