Pakistani Scientist Invited To Deliver Plenary Lecture At China-Pakistan Bilateral Workshop
UrduPoint (3rd Sep, 2026) KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News) – The recent China-Pakistan bilateral workshop on Natural Product Research at the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing invited Professor Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, to deliver a plenary lecture.
Counsellor for Technical Affairs, Science and Technology at the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing, Khan Muhammad Wazir, also attended. Chinese experts including Prof. Guihui Pan, Prof. Weishan Wang, and Prof. Luoyi Wang also presented lectures.
In his talk, Prof. Raza Shah emphasized the significance of natural product research for human welfare through drug discovery and healthcare advancements. He highlighted ICCBS' contributions in this domain, particularly by H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, including research on medicinal plants, marine natural products, fungi, and microorganisms.
The professor further stressed the value of international collaborations like joint research programs, bolstering natural product studies at ICCBS. Describing ICCBS as a leading regional research institution, he noted China-Pakistan scientific cooperation growth through shared labs, workshops, agreements focusing on natural products, herbal medicines, and traditional healing systems.
