Paperless System Launched at LGH

Lahore General Hospital (LGH) has begun its transition to a paperless system, with the Paediatric Department being the first to go digital under a phased programme. This initiative aims to eventually eliminate paper-based processes across all departments.

In this phase, laboratory tests, medicine records, diagnostic reports, and complete clinical histories of paediatric patients will be securely stored on an online portal. The move is anticipated to fully replace paper documentation in the department, significantly enhancing both administrative efficiency and clinical care.

The inauguration ceremony was co-chaired by MS LGH Prof. Dr Faryad Hussain and Professor Dr Muhammad Shahid. Director IT Dr Salman Shakeel and representatives from the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) were also present, with PITB providing technical support for the project.

Prof. Dr Faryad Hussain emphasized that the current era is characterized by digital technology and equipping healthcare systems with modern tools is essential. He highlighted LGH's commitment to delivering prompt and quality medical services in line with CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Patient First” vision.

He added that digitisation will prevent lost paper files and allow doctors instant access to patient histories, thereby enhancing treatment quality and speed. Subsequent phases will transition other LGH departments to the same digital model.
