PCFA New Executive Committee Takes Oath - UrduPoint

The newly-elected Executive Committee of the Pakistan-China Friendship Association (PCFA) took oath on Wednesday at a ceremony held at the Lahore Gymkhana Club. Chinese Consul General Lahore, Sun Yan, served as the chief guest.
Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt was sworn in as President, Ho Yuk Bing Barbara as Senior Vice President, Dr. Kiran Khurshid as Vice President and Asad Gondal as Secretary General. Rizwan Akram Sherwani, Naveed Saeed, and Dr. Farzana Riaz also joined the Executive Committee.
The event was attended by:
- Former CDA Islamabad Chairman, Kamran Lashari
- Lahore Gymkhana Club Chairman, Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman
- Government College University Vice Chancellor, Dr. Omar Chaudhry
- Allahwale Foundation Chairman, Shahid Lone
- President RPO Sheikhupura and Old Ravens Union, Athar Ismail
Consul General Sun Yan expressed his confidence in the new leadership and pledged full support for their goals. He hoped the association would foster closer ties between Pakistan and China. He appreciated the establishment of an alumni chapter for Pakistani students studying in China and welcomed cultural exchange programs.
The ceremony also featured the inauguration of the PCFA website, with celebrations for China’s upcoming 77th National Day on October 1st. Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt and Consul General Sun Yan cut a cake together.
Dr. Khalid expressed gratitude to the founding members and emphasized the association's commitment to:
- Strengthening links between Chinese and Pakistani educational institutions
- Securing more scholarships for Pakistani students
- Promoting educational and cultural cooperation
- Organizing seminars, exhibitions, and entertainment programs
A commemorative shield was presented to Consul General Sun Yan at the end of the ceremony. A group photo was taken with all attendees, followed by tea.
